Xcel Energy is conducting work in Fort Collins, Colorado as part of a periodic review of the system to maintain reliability. The project will include reconfiguration of an existing regulator station and replacement of natural gas lines at the regulator station, as well as routine testing in the project area. This work allows Xcel Energy to continue to provide safe, reliable service to the Fort Collins area.
Construction will take place near the intersection of N. College Avenue and E. Vine Drive. Work will be happening at the regulator station, which is located in a fenced area next to railroad tracks and the Poudre River Whitewater Park.
Natural gas service interruptions are not expected. If this changes, we'll communicate directly with you.

What to Expect
Our goal is to limit inconveniences to you during work, though you may notice the following:
- Temporary lane closures or shifted lanes as construction equipment enters the site.
- Traffic control measures like flaggers and signs.
- Temporary changes to trail access in Poudre River Whitewater Park.
- Construction equipment on site.
- Construction noise, dust and vibration.
- Routine testing noise.
- Potential disturbances to plants and trees, with restoration planned upon project completion.
Xcel Energy will restore work areas to preconstruction conditions.

This project is located near the southeast corner of N. College Avenue and E. Vine Drive. The regulator station is inside a building in a fenced area near railroad tracks and the Poudre River Whitewater Park.
Regulator stations are a common component of the natural gas system and are essential to ensuring safe and reliable natural gas service. These facilities adjust natural gas pressure to the appropriate level for use in homes and businesses.
There is an existing regulator station at this location near the intersection of N. College Avenue and E. Vine Drive. The project team will work with applicable jurisdictions, including the City of Fort Collins, and will follow permitting requirements.
This periodic review of the system will allow Xcel Energy to continue to provide safe, reliable service to the Fort Collins area.
Project construction is anticipated to start in May 2025 and be complete in August 2025.

Portions of the trail on the east side of the park will be temporarily closed, however visitors will still be able to access portions of the trail on the west side of the park, including the pedestrian bridge over the Cache la Poudre River and river access points for kayakers and tubers.
Trail closure signs will be posted to inform park users.

- Hissing, whistling or roaring noise outside near the natural gas line or inside near appliances.
- Dirt spraying into the air or continuous bubbling in a creek or pond.
- Unexplained dead or dying vegetation.
Improper or unauthorized digging near underground utilities is a common cause of natural gas incidents. Prior to digging, call 811 or visit colorado811.org to get help locating and marking buried utility lines.
